San Juan | 3D Cities
Richest Port in the Caribbean
Puerto Rico, the “rich port,” was Spain’s prize possession in the New World. Much of the history of this fabled old town - and it has a lot of history - involves Spain building and defending this large and secure port from invaders. It allowed Spain to grow its influence in the Western Hemisphere and was a major source of prestige for the empire. Though eventually ceded to the USA, this town retains its Spanish character and language, and is a major tourist destination for sea and air travelers, or anyone looking for some warmth and culture.
Our base 8” models are in 1:10000 scale, which allows us to focus on Old San Juan, the most historical part of the city, with its forts, mercado, and cruise ship terminals. You’ll see the fortifications of Castillo San Felipe del Morro, the ramparts down Calle Norzagaray, coastal neighborhood of La Perla, and finish at Castillo de San Cristobal. The south side of the island features Bastion de San Agustin, La Fortaleza, Coast Guard station and Customs House, Darsenas Square, and the ferry and cruise ship docks, plus a few ships themselves! And, of course, Old San Juan is characterized by its numerous narrow streets, filled with color all day and music all night. The whole city was laser scanned in 2015, but not much changes in this historical city, which you can now display in its full three-dimensional glory.
While our 8”x8” MiniCty models are standard, we also offer a variety of larger sizes to satisfy any desire. Sizes include 12”, 16”, 24”, 30”, 36”, up to a wall-covering 54”x54”. As the prints get larger, the buildings get bigger and the detail increases! But you get a lot more than simply buildings from MiniCty - you get every tree, bus, hill, park, bridge, and detail, and the largest prints include every car, fence, chimney, spire, and shrub! Check out the shop for prices, and ask us if you don’t see the size you want. We do custom work as well!
