New York City | 3D Cities
New York City -- there’s no city like it. Whether you see it as The Crossroads of the World where thousands gather melting-pot style, or for the thousands of crosswalks where the daily throng is kept on their toes, every New York City devotees’ definition is different. What is the same, however, is their passion for its unique cultural, historical, and architectural features. So complex is its landscape that MiniCty has parsed it out in sections, the first of which is this model - of Downtown and Lower Manhattan.
New York City is known throughout the world for its stunning architecture, both in height and history. New York City claims the 6th and the 13th tallest buildings in the world -- One World Trade Center (a patriotic 1776’) and the Central Park Tower (1550’), respectively. And who could forget Lombardi’s (32 Spring Street & Mott St.) which, upon its opening in 1905, played a vital role in US history as the first pizzeria to open in the nation. Mangia! Tell ‘em MiniCty sent you.
The Big Apple in Mini Bytes
New York, New York -- True to it’s larger-than-life reputation, it can’t possibly fit in just one MiniCty model. Much like the scale and sizes of our other MiniCty models, we've chosen to focus on Lower Manhattan and the Downtown area, which includes Rockefeller Park, One World Trade Center, Trinity Church, National Museum of the American Indian, The Battery, Wall Street, 55 Water Street, Alexander Hamilton US Customs House, and the Woolworth Building. Stay tuned for more models in the New York City collection.
Look over your favorite famous buildings and landmarks, and enjoy unique aspects of the city overlooked by traditional maps and models. You’ll find church spires and skyscraper spikes, green spaces with trees, and with details like tiny buses and cars, you’ll find yourself enjoying traffic for the first time. This 3D map will serve as a friendly reminder that you, together with nine-million of your fellow New Yorkers, create a rich and vibrant landscape so much bigger than the city’s square footage.
The Model So Nice, You’ll Look At It Twice...or as often as you like.
The New York City skyline is so much more than just the tallest buildings! In this model of Downtown and Lower Manhattan, you’ll also find Rockefeller Park, Bowling Green (famous for the Charging Bull and Fearless Girl Statues facing-off), the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Four World Trade Center (978’ and with the second fastest elevators in North America at 9 m/s / 1800 fpm), and Bowling Green Park, the oldest park in the city, with construction dating to 1733.
The MiniCty models of New York’s Downtown and Lower Manhattan are built from laser-scan data from 2014, so they’re missing a few notable buildings: 3 World Trade Center (9th Tallest, 1,079’), 56 Leonard Street (821’), 111 Murray Street (792’), and a few others. However! The starter 8” model covers the southernmost edge of the Hudson Park Esplanade on the West to Catherine Street on the East; from the Canal Street Metro Stop in the North to the Statue of Liberty View Point in the South. And the 16” model covers even more.
While our 8”x8” MiniCty models are standard, we also offer a variety of larger sizes to satisfy any desire. Sizes include 12”, 16”, 24”, 30”, 36”, up to a wall-covering 54”x54”. As the prints get larger, the buildings get bigger and the detail increases! But you get a lot more than simply buildings from MiniCty - you get every tree, bus, hill, park, bridge, and detail, and the largest prints include every car, fence, chimney, spire, and shrub! Check out the shop for prices, and ask us if you don’t see the size you want. We do custom work as well!
